Faery Knitting
Spinningerin reads fairy tales, discusses her favorite books and blogs and podcasts, and talks about her crazy life tending livestock, making cheese, and spinning and knitting up a storm in her Texas cabin.

A little light refreshment with the elves, and a great idea to replace the exchange of wedding rings. Erin effervesces over new goat babies, her as-yet-unnamed milkhouse (enter the contest, y'all), and Stackable Cats. She then becomes tongue-tied over the most recent incentives. What can I say; it's an emotional thing.
Shownotes, as always, at faeryknitting.blogspot.com, and do feel free to pop into the group on Ravelry (search for it - we don't have our picture up yet). Yes we has baby goat pics!
(The pic for the podcast, BTW, is a Danish lizard - perhaps one of today's commentators. It's Lacerta agilis from mistermacrophoto's photostream in Flickr.)

A Bluebeard variation, with happy results, from English Fairy Tales by Joseph Jacobs. Goats are still pregnant, darn it, though Erin is now ready to take Sesame for long car rides over bumpy roads. Yes, she is WAY more desperate than the actual goat is.
A seed-centive for knitting class tips, and two fairy tale books up for grabs. Listen to find out how!
The coolest part of doing this podcast is definitely the awesome response - thanks to all of you that have contacted me (see how seamlessly I shift into first-person).

A fiber double feature from The Green Fairy Book! Despite overwhelming response for single tales - but hey, they're short, and neither merits a whole episode, IMO. So. Enjoy this double-barreled discussion of femininity, whether you think it's accurate or no, and the cattywumpus world that is the faery tale kingdom.
Mostly knitting chat today, so non-fiber people, just take a deep breath. The theme for today's episode (not the podcast itself, which is Skullcrusher Mountain) is "Old Man" on Kate Rusby's album Awkward Annie - check it out. Women (and men) with yarn ROCK.
Also, the results of the yarncentive drawing - yay! Shownotes to follow, of course, at faeryknitting.blogspot.com - toodles.

Erin lays out her current plan for the podcast, and asks you to approve it. Plus, yarnalicious incentives for response! Not that she hasn't been enjoying the wonderful responses thus far, but, well, she wants to know what you think.
"Prince Hyacinth and the Dear Little Princess": a tale for those who thought that big noses and moralistic tales were limited to...well...anyway, Cyrano de Bergerac could've played the lead in this one. Have fun!
Check the shownotes for pics and stuff, but be sure to scroll down for the proper entry; the notes were saved from the day the episode was recorded, and Erin has been having Technical Difficulties.
It'll be another week or two before another new episode, so take this one with my blessing!

Erin, frankly, was up too late when she recorded this. Let this excuse her fuzzy-headedness, but be assured, it shows her urgent desire to spread fairy tale goodness to her dear listeners. Also, she has since received a new copy of "Snow White and Rose Red" by Patricia Wrede and will be reviewing it in Episode 10 (Lord willing).

"The Goose Girl" from Andrew Lang's *The Blue Fairy Book* (yes, Erin read it out of her yummy 12-books-1 volume!). Exciting goat updates, and what Erin is and is NOT growing in her garden.

After finishing *The Perilous Gard*, Erin realizes she left a bunch out, so this is a bonus episode.
